How to manually partition a hard drive

·         Look out for ‘My Computer’ icon on the desktop
·         For Windows 8 users, you can get there by following the following procedures;

·         Click on the file explorer icon on the task bar
·         Right click on ‘My Computer’
·         Click on ‘Manage’
·         That would open another window with ‘Computer Management’ on the Title bar.

·         On the ‘Computer Management tree’, you would find the branch, ’Storage’
·         Click on it and it would display another sub-menu ‘Disk Management’

·         Clicking on ‘Disk Management’ would display a list of all connected storage devices on the side.
·         Click on the volume label {Eg. (C:)} to display the partitions of that drive. If there are no partitions then;
·         Right click on the volume and click on ‘shrink volume’

·         A pop-up menu would display the total size of the volume, size of available shrink space, amount of space to shrink, and the total size after shrinking.
·         Enter the desired amount of shrink space in MB in the ‘Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB’ box
Note: 1024 MB =1GB
Click on shrink and wait for process to complete.

Warning : Do not interfere with the process
After process completes successfully, you would need to format the new partition to make it usable.
