Two Crazy Guys Climb the World’s Second Tallest Building Without Ropes

Two Russian guys named  Raskalov And Vadim Makhorov  decided to challenge the laws of gravity and death by climbing and filming themselves whilst climbing the World’s Second Tallest Building(Shangai's new tallest building) without ropes or any climbing gear of any kind. The approximate height of the tower is 650 m.

These guys were basically just climbing the tall building with their bare hands.
Their cameras show vertigo-inducing panoramas of Shanghai hundreds of metres below throughout their ascent. The pair even passed clouds on their journey to the top.

Makhorov told Yahoo! News: "We had to wait for hours for the clouds to part but it was well worth the wait, the view was like something from an aircraft window.

"As soon as we saw a gap in the clouds were climbed right to the top of the crane and were able to get some great shots of the city below."

 Upon its completion, the Shangai tower will be one of the tallest buildings in the world , second only to the 830 metre Burj Khalifa in the UAE, the tallest man-made structure in the world.

When both climbers reach the top, their head-cams show them peering down into the abyss below.


Getting to the top of the building is not enough for the hoodie-clad adrenaline junkies, whose feet literally dangle above the clouds, as they had to climb up the crane atop the building, meaning they reached a truly dizzying height of 650m.

A man who travelled America on the back of a motorbike has been buried astride his beloved 1967 Harley-Davidson.

Bill Standley, 82, was lowered into the ground inside a clear glass box in full biking gear and sitting on his prized possession.
His daughter Dorothy Brown said the idea came about 18 years ago as he joked about who would inherit his motorcycle.

"He said what am I supposed to do? I've got two sons, only got one bike. My sister just off-handedly said 'oh dad just be buried with it'.
"I think it was about two weeks after that that it really hit him - what a great idea. We all still thought he was kidding. Eighteen years later, guess what?"
She added that he was a "twist of colour on the tweed surface of life", and said he had "a wanderlust".

He left home at 13 to work cattle ranches out west, eventually travelling to 49 of the 50 states.
He settled down to raise a family in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, but his passion for the road never left him.
Work to make his final wish a reality began six years ago. He and his sons built the plexiglass casket that would hold him and his motorbike, and he bought three burial plots next to his wife.
One onlooker at the funeral said: "It’s going to be hard to top this one."
Another added: "Some people walk through the pearly gates, some people ride."

Yemeni girl cries stones instead of Tears

A little girl has baffled doctors by crying stones instead of tears, causing fear in her Yemeni village with locals concerned that it could be the result of magic.
The Yemeni girl, 12, produces little hard stones under her eyelids.
Doctors said they still could not give an explanation for such a phenomenon since the girl, Saadiya Saleh, is not suffering from any known disease.

Unfortunately this triggered a panic in rural areas where they assumed the girl must be possessed by magic.
A YouTube film aired by Yemen’s Azal satellite TV channel showed doctors gathered a small box full of stones that dropped out of the girl’s eyes in just a few hours.
The local presenter said: “This case in the second strange phenomenon in the region.”
“The case has triggered panic in the area where this girl lives… Some say the girl could be gripped by a magic spell while others say it might be the devil… Others fear it could be the start of a dangerous epidemic.”

REDMOND, Wash. — Feb. 4, 2014 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Satya Nadella as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors effective immediately. Nadella previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group.


“During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella,” said Bill Gates, Microsoft’s Founder and Member of the Board of Directors. “Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vision for how technology will be used and experienced around the world is exactly what Microsoft needs as the company enters its next chapter of expanded product innovation and growth.”

Since joining the company in 1992, Nadella has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the company’s portfolio of products and services, most notably the company’s move to the cloud and the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world supporting Bing, Xbox, Office and other services. During his tenure overseeing Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business, the division outperformed the market and took share from competitors.


“Microsoft is one of those rare companies to have truly revolutionized the world through technology, and I couldn’t be more honored to have been chosen to lead the company,” Nadella said. “The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but to seize it, we must focus clearly, move faster and continue to transform. A big part of my job is to accelerate our ability to bring innovative products to our customers more quickly.”

“Having worked with him for more than 20 years, I know that Satya is the right leader at the right time for Microsoft,” said Steve Ballmer, who announced on Aug. 23, 2013 that he would retire once a successor was named. “I’ve had the distinct privilege of working with the most talented employees and senior leadership team in the industry, and I know their passion and hunger for greatness will only grow stronger under Satya’s leadership.”

Microsoft also announced that Bill Gates, previously Chairman of the Board of Directors, will assume a new role on the Board as Founder and Technology Advisor, and will devote more time to the company, supporting Nadella in shaping technology and product direction. John Thompson, lead independent director for the Board of Directors, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors and remain an independent director on the Board.


“Satya is clearly the best person to lead Microsoft, and he has the unanimous support of our Board,” Thompson said. “The Board took the thoughtful approach that our shareholders, customers, partners and employees expected and deserved.”

With the addition of Nadella, Microsoft’s Board of Directors consists of Ballmer; Dina Dublon, former Chief Financial Officer of JPMorgan Chase; Gates; Maria M. Klawe, President of Harvey Mudd College; Stephen J. Luczo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Seagate Technology PLC; David F. Marquardt, General Partner at August Capital; Nadella; Charles H. Noski, former Vice Chairman of Bank of America Corp.; Dr. Helmut Panke, former Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW Bayerische Motoren Werke AG; and Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Virtual Instruments. Seven of the 10 board members are independent of Microsoft, which is consistent with the requirement in the company’s governance guidelines that a substantial majority be independent.

Apple 30 years today

 

 

30 years ago, January 24th, 1984, the Macintosh was invented by Apple and has since taken the world by storm. It is said that it came with a promise, "that the power of technology, taken from a few and put in the hands of everyone, could change the world".

 Has this promise being fulfilled?
Whether it has or not, depends on how we see it. This is some history of the revolution of the MacIntosh.
Previous to the Macintosh developer team, others had already tried to design a computer with a mouse and a graphical user interface – one year before Apple did, with its own business computer Lisa, which retailed for 10,000 dollars.
However, the Lisa computer proved to be a huge flop. With a price of 10,000 dollars (exclusive of a hard disk drive), it was far too expensive; the graphical user interface devoured the Lisa’s power so that the computer did not work particularly briskly. It lacked the necessary programs to induce the business world to buy the Lisa in large numbers. Moreover, the newly established distribution team could hardly resort to any experience in the handling of Corporate America.

In 1987, Apple sold one million Macs and suddenly played in the IBM league again. More than half of the 2,000 dollars for a Mac constituted profit for Apple, so that Sculley and his colleagues in the Apple management believed that the users would always be willing to pay much more for a better technology. Within these years, Apple missed the gigantic opportunity of establishing the Mac as the general industry standard. At that time, either the prices should have been cut dramatically, or a broad licensing program should have been agreed with other hardware producers. With the introduction of Windows 3.0 in 1990, this “window of opportunity” finally shut.
When Steve Jobs returned to his former company in hard times by the beginning of 1997, first as a counselor and then as a principal, the competition for the industry standard between Apple Computers and Microsoft had long been settled. With new Apple talents such as Jonathan Ive, he not only succeeded in bringing the company back on the course of success, but also in making a mark in the industry.
With the Mac, Jobs also astounded experienced pioneers of the computer industry: Future PCs, Intel co-founder Andy Grove said in 1998 in an interview, wouldn’t be general purpose computers to which networking has been added as an afterthought, but networking machines that also do computing. “The iMac embodies a lot of the things I’m talking about,” Grove said. “Sometimes what Apple does has an electrifying effect on the rest of us.”
